The Situation
Origin LPG is a business division of Origin Energy, specialising in the supply, distribution, and servicing of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for a wide range of customers, including residential, commercial and industrial across Australia.
Drivers undertaking longer journeys are required to complete a Journey Management Plan (JMP) prior to departure. The JMP is a printed form that once completed is reviewed by supervisor and filed. Origin LPG was looking for better ways of managing the completion and subsequent access to the JMP, and to move to a consistent national process. At this point, drivers had access to and were using NRC’ s employee safety monitoring service via the response centre and TraXu app.
The Solution
Origin LPG elected to review and then move the JMP to a pre-activity checklist as part of the Journey activity within the employee safety monitoring service. This template captures core details of journey, duration, vehicle, and then takes the driver through a series of journey preparedness questions with responses driving an aggregate risk score. Supervisor visibility of high-risk journeys are maintained with automatic notification emailed to listed supervisor of medium and high-risk scores.
Drivers can now complete the JMP questionnaire via the TraXu App or NRC Response Centre at the journey registration process instead of completing the manual form. The supervisor has access to responses and associated activities via the customer portal. All JMP and journey data can be accessed and exported via standard report templates accessed via the customer portal.
Where We Are Now
The solution has resulted in;
- The retirement of paper forms along with centralisation of journey plans and activities.
- A consistent national process.
- Improved visibility for supervisors of higher risk activities.
- More efficient process for drivers – less administrative paperwork.
